Besides eating, sleeping and breathing fashion,  20 year old Slay By A , boutique owner Amanda Watkins talks with us about how she does everything on her own while juggling a normal everyday life.

Dasia: What do you like about fashion ?:

Amanda: I love that fashion is more than just an outfit. It’s an expression, it’s art.

Dasia: How long have you been in business ?

Amanda: Slay by A Boutique has been in business for almost 1 year. June is the mark. It wouldn’t be where it is now if it wasn’t for the support. I built my brand with hoping that it will one day be in the position where I can reach out and speak to women all over the world through clothing. And yes, it may sound silly, but I want all women to feel beautiful in whatever they wear.

As women, we shouldn’t feel limited to what society tells us as far as what we should or shouldn’t wear. As a sister, daughter and aunt myself, I want to be able to set an example for the ladies who feels as though they don’t have enough confidence. With my brand, I hope to empower women of every race, color and body type to embrace their inner goddess and love their body!

Dasia: Do you design everything for the boutique ?

Amanda: No. Some items are purchased wholesale and other items are designed by me.

Dasia: What are some of the obstacles you’ve faced since being in business and how did you overcome it ?

Amanda: Some obstacles that I’ve faced since being in business is honestly finding models to work with that represent my brand and what it stands for. Besides channeling your inner Carrie Bradshaw, Slay by A Boutique was built as a women empowerment company. It was so difficult to find someone who not only loved what we stand for but lived by it. I overcame this obstacle by handpicking models myself instead of my team and having one-on-one talks with them to understand who they are and what they believe.

Amanda: This is such a great question because I’m actually working on a blog post for my website about 6 ways to improve in 2017 lol. This year, for me personally, my goals are to work harder and smarter, to expand my brand not only for men but for couples as well. I hope to sign an upcoming brand to my company and collaborate, collaborate, collaborate!! Lol Slay is also working towards a store front in the big apple! but for now we’ll continue doing pop up shop events.

Dasia: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years .?

Amanda: The most monumental thing in life to me is being an entrepreneur. In 5 years, I plan to have a storefront for Slay by A Boutique. As the business woman I am, I plan to own many different companies and branch out into motivational speaking and continue building my franchise.
